2016 Awards

The 2016 Award winners with Minister Nadhavathna Krishnamram

This year's Educational Awards presentation and reception was held on Friday 26th November at London’s Oriental Club. The evening proved to be an extremely memorable one with a record number of talented student award winners, many of whom were accompanied by their PhD supervisors. The aim of the Awards is to recognise the exceptional academic achievements of Thai post-graduate scholars in the UK and are strongly supported by the Royal Thai Embassy.  In his speech Minister Nadhavathna Krishnamram, Deputy Head of the Thai Embassy, commended ATS on their initiative and paid tribute to the many talented Thai students in the UK and the importance of their research to the Thai nation.

A highlight of the evening was the enlightening speech by the keynote speaker Mr Iain Smith OBE, the eminent Film producer, who spent several months living in Thailand while shooting his Oscar winning film ‘The Killing Fields’.  He explained why Thailand was so important to him; how the Thai people had supported him in so many ways and how he had been touched by their goodwill and gentleness.
