Event Details:
In ‘The Portrait of Siamese Family’, Prapat Jiwarangsan employs archival-based art to explore the historical context of social hierarchies in Thai society. By working with historic photographs from the Thai Student Alumni Association in London, taken between 1890 and 1950, and merging them with salvaged images from a defunct photo lab in Bangkok from the 1950s, the artist creates a layered dialogue between past and present. Jiwarangsan manipulates these images through cutting, patching, and chemical processing, blurring timelines and social classes to construct new narratives.
