ATS 55th Anniversary Gala Dinner Dance

The 55th Anniversary Dinner Dance duly took place on Friday, 20 October at the recently refurbished Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The evening got underway with Welcome Drinks where the 240 guests (including both Lord & Lady Geddes and our Patron The Thai Ambassador together with his wife and other Embassy colleagues) enjoyed traditional background music played by the Thai Music Circle before heading into Dinner. Once seated, both the outgoing Chair Khun Orapin and the Thai Ambassador HE Pisanu Suvanajata gave their respective Welcome Addresses before a delicious 3 course dinner was served.

The arrival of coffee signalled the start of the Raffle Draw conducted by the incoming Chairman Steve Buckley. Fortunately, our guests were in a generous mood and - helped by an array of quality prizes provided by Carabao, Chakrabongse Villa, Chang Beer, Monsoon Valley, Plaza Athenee Hotel, Royal Lancaster Hotel, Singha Beer, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT - our Gold Table sponsor), ThaiBev & THAI Airways - the magnificent sum of £1,000 was raised for each of our 2 designated Thai Charities: Safe Child Thailand and The Mercy Centre.

Live entertainment by Helen Orford (a remarkable Hula Hoop artiste) and the Thai Dance Academy then followed before the many guests danced the evening away with an in-house Disco.

All in all, the evening was a great success and a most fitting end to Khun Orapin’s outstanding tenure as Chair.
